HMDA
to decide upon extended-stay hotel at KineticPark
December 1, 2004
On Tuesday, November 30, 2004, members of HMDA met
with the property management firm for an extended
stay hotel chain to discuss a letter of intent to
build a 70-room hotel at KineticPark. HMDA members
voted to review the proposal and make a decision about
the hotel at its December 13, 2004 meeting. Each room
in the hotel would include a kitchenette, work area,
and high-speed internet access. The hotel would cater
to both business professionals and family members
of patients at Cabell Huntington Hospital or St. Marys
Medical Center.
HMDA left open the possibility of building both an
extended hotel and a standard hotel; however there
is concern whether the market could support two hotels.
Also, two hotels would consume the space for a small
shopping plaza that HMDA plans to build on the lower
level of KineticPark.
