Construction
phase of KineticPark nears end; development work already
in progress
The construction phase of KineticPark is nearing its
end and soon land at the park will be ready for development.
The construction process began in 2001 with a massive
earthmoving effort. 2.6 million cubic yards of dirt
and rock were moved during construction. A hill was
leveled to provide two flat areas suitable for building.
The West Virginia Division of Highways built a bridge
from WV 10 to the site. Engineers built roads and
began initial landscaping. Utilities were installed,
including sewer, water, telephone, natural gas and
underground power and communication ducts.
Land at KineticPark is now available for sale or lease.
The Huntington Municipal Development Authority has
already begun an intensive search for appropriate
tenants at the park. In the commercial area, negotiations
are underway with various restaurants, convenient
stores, supermarkets and strip mall developers. In
the technology park, HMDA is negotiating opportunities
with medical, internet, biotech and the federal government.
The Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) has
publicly announced its intention to build Velocity
Center, a technology incubator, at KineticPark.
