KineticPark
Committee meets to discuss hill shift
January 11, 2005
The KineticPark Committee met in an emergency session
this morning to discuss a shift in the hill on the
back side of KineticPark that occurred early Monday
morning, causing trees to fall.
The Committee was told by HMDA Executive Director
Bill Toney that the fallen trees were removed immediately
to protect two homes nearby. Although homes are out
of danger, plans are in place to monitor the hillside
closely until it is fixed.
Committee members asked that Triad Engineering, consultant
to the KineticPark project, accelerate its report
of the damage and what needs to be done. They discussed
plans to plant new trees and vegetation once repairs
are complete, to improve the hills appearance.
Committee members also decided to recommend to the
HMDA Board that an independent engineering firm be
secured to review the entire site to identify any
other potential issues that need to be addressed.
The next meeting of the Huntington Municipal Development
Authority is January 24th.
Updates on shift corrections will be posted regularly
on this website.
