Completion of KineticPark Initial Construction Celebrated
Officials Announce Plans to Open Park for Business

City and state officials, community and business leaders and Huntington citizens gathered today at the KineticPark site to celebrate the completion of initial construction. The ceremonial ribbon was cut to symbolize that KineticPark is open for business. The festivities were facilitated by master of ceremonies John Patterson, Senior Vice-President of Bank One. The project’s multiple funders were acknowledged for their support of the $18 million project.

Mayor David Felinton announced several steps that the City and the Huntington Municipal Development Authority will take to accelerate park development. They include the following:

• A marketing agreement for $25,000 is being negotiated with the Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO). It will include the development of federal opportunities at KineticPark.

• A resolution has been introduced in City Council that will provide special incentives for new companies that locate in KineticPark. Companies willing to make a substantial investment in Huntington and guarantee a certain number of jobs will benefit from reduced B&O taxes for a set number of years.

• KineticParkNews.com has been launched as a news and information source for the Huntington community. It will feature regular updates on the progress of KineticPark.

• A KineticPark citizen committee will serve as community liasions and assist with outreach activities.

Bill Toney, executive director of the Huntington Municipal Development Authority (HMDA), which owns KineticPark, anticipates a number of announcements in the near future. Ten of fifteen available parcels at the park are currently under negotiation.
